But MSPmentor continues to caution readers: Not all managed service providers are succeeding.

Face it: People love data. They love statistics. And they embrace research. One of the fastest ways for managed service providers (MSP) to generate marketing buzz is to publish a research report that’s full of key statistics. The report can also serve as a key sales tool. Consider, for instance, a recent research effort by The Planet, a major hosting provider.

Numerous anecdotes suggest that managed service providers (MSPs) are holding up better than traditional resellers in the recession. Now, CompTIA (the Computing Technology Industry Association) is backing up those assumptions with research. Here’s a look at some of CompTIA’s latest findings about the MSP industry.

But I also welcome responsible research. Take a look.

The Ultimate Managed Services Research Report?
A comprehensive managed services research report just hit my desktop. It’s from Techaisle. I’m not very familiar with Techaisle’s history or research methods. However, the company claims they surveyed 6,827 small businesses to pinpoint managed services spending trends across the globe.
Do 62% of Small Businesses Really Use Managed IT Services?
Sixty-two percent of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) now use managed IT and telecom services, according to the firm Research and Markets. That sounds impressive, but I’m always a little wary of such big claims about the managed services market. Here’s why.
