The U.S. managed services market will grow from $29 billion in 2010 to $47 billion in 2015, predicts The Insight Research Corp. I’m often wary of IT market forecasts, especially since it’s impossible to predict how the economy and IT services demand will evolve four months from now — not to mention four years from now. But generally speaking, it sounds like Insight Research sees upside for MSPs as customers increasingly shift to IP networks. Here’s why.
Managed Services Market: Still Growing, But How Fast?
Hiding In A Local NOC During Another Snowstorm
Ugh. Another snowstorm is moving in here on Long Island. And I’m scheduled to moderate an MSPmentor Live webcast from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. eastern today. So how do I cope with bad weather — especially when snow and ice can knock out power to my home office? My answer is rather simple: I call a local managed services provider, head to their NOC (network operations center), and moderate our webcast from their offices.
How Many VARs Will Become MSPs?
The headline poses a question that I get asked all the time: How many VARs will truly become managed services providers? My answer varies day to day, hour by hour. But during this week’s HP Americas Partner Conference and Cisco Partner Summit, my thoughts became clearer. Here are some observations.
Autotask Community Live: Five Moves Worth Watching
I’m busy booking travel for channel partner and managed services conferences this April. Among my destinations: Autotask Community Live, scheduled for April 18-20 in Miami. Cisco Certified MSPs Gaining Critical Mass
What a difference a year makes. Or in this case, less than a year. Rewind to mid-2009. Cisco Systems had a limited, somewhat flawed managed services partner program. Fast forward to the present, and a growing number of solutions providers are signing on to earn Cisco’s Managed Services Master Certification. The two latest examples involve BlueWater Communications Group and Insight Enterprises. Here are the details.

JAJAH Launches Managed Voice Service
Smith on VoIP, one of my favorite blogs, has an interesting piece today about JAJAH — a fast-growing “Voice 2.0″ company that just signed up its 10 millionth customer. Now, according to Smith on VoIP, JAJAH is launching JAJAH Managed Services, positioned as:
“a turnkey telephony service, with everything from network services to billing incorporated in the package.” More importantly, however, Yahoo! will be utilizing the JAJAH platform to provide voice services for their 97 million Yahoo IM users.
For managed service providers, JAJAH represents the latest opportunity to embrace and extend a telephony platform with your own custom code.
