I’m now convinced that all IT service providers — MSPs, VARs, resellers — need quoting and sales proposals software. Ironically, I reached that conclusion while researching a potential home improvement project. Here’s the back story, and how it shaped my views back in the managed services providers.
I’m packing my bags and heading to the CA Technologies MSP Symposium in a couple of days (Jan. 29-31, Miami, Fla). But before I head for the blogging exit, here are seven managed services blogs and MSP news stories the MSPmentor team didn’t have a chance to write for the week ending January 27, 2012.

LogicMonitor, the network, hosting and cloud monitoring software provider, has added new features to its Monitoring-as-a-Service (MaaS) solution for managed service providers. The move falls in line with what LogicMonitor CEO Kevin McGibben told me just one week ago about the company expanding its monitoring offering into Asia and further into Europe. A major part of LogicMonitor’s plan, according to McGibben, is to add more MSP customers. Here are more details on LogicMonitor’s first move as part of its regional expansion push.

Monitoring as a Service (MaaS) continues to gain momentum, according to LogicMonitor CEO Kevin McGibben (pictured). During our conversation in mid-January, McGibben said LogicMonitor, which offers network, hosted and cloud monitoring, has seen an uptake in the number of MSPs looking to add monitoring to its overall service offering. And while LogicMonitor still primarily sells its solution to enterprise end-users, McGibben expects the company’s MSP base to grow significantly the next 12-18 months. Here’s why.
