Numara Software, a service desk and help desk software provider, is launching mobile device management (MDM) solutions. First up, Numara has introduced the Numara Cloud — a suite of IT service lifecycle, endpoint lifecycle and MDM solutions for physical and virtual environments. Second, Numara has developed the Numara Cloud Mobile Device Manager. The big question: Can Numara stand out in the crowded MDM market?

There are four solutions within the Numara Cloud Suite:

1. Numara Cloud Service Manager: lets users automate, manage and control changes within the IT service management solution infrastructure
2. Numara Cloud Service Lifecycle Manager: lets partners manage their offerings  through a service catalog and customer management database (CMDB), automate incident resolution and manage workflow processes.
   
3. Numara Cloud Endpoint Lifecycle Manager: delivers on-demand, real-time asset discovery and management for physical, virtual and mobile devices
   
4. Numara Cloud Mobile Device Manager: gives IT organizations a way to securely manage mobile devices through the entire lifecycle, which includes discovery and inventory, app management and policy and security management.

The Numara Cloud solutions can be purchased individually or as a package, based on individual needs of enterprise customers.

On the MDM front, Numara Cloud Mobile Device Manager can secure sensitive data, while giving personal mobile devices access to company networks, the company claims. It can also locate and recover lost or stolen devices through its embedded GPS locator, which is integrated with Google Maps. An auto-provisioning function allows  IT departments to provision multiple devices from anywhere — via the cloud infrastructure.

Numara has been on the move in recent months — acquiring the MDM provider FromDistance and launching a North American channel partner program.
