Managed IT Services: 7 Blogs MSPmentor Didn’t Write, Oct. 7

The MSPmentor team is gearing up to cover three major channel partner conferences this week, which will be hosted by N-able Technologies, Symantec and Dell.But in the meantime, here are seven managed IT services blogs the MSPmentor team didn’t have a chance to write for the week ending Oct. 7, 2011.

7. One Week to Go: The Microsoft Windows Intune upgrade is set to debut a week from now. Microsoft is promoting a Windows Intune ROI Calculator for partners and customers to leverage. Anybody giving the calculator a try?

6. A Whole New World?: I had a brief call with Nimsoft CEO Chris O’Malley. He moved into the CEO slot back in April 2011. Fast forward to the present and it sounds like O’Malley and CA are working on a few managed services surprises that will surface at CA World (Nov. 13-16, Las Vegas). In the meantime, mum’s the word.

5. Mergers and Acquisitions: Hosting.com has acquired NeoSpire, a managed hosting provider. NeoSpire specializes in managed hosting, application hosting, database hosting and Exchange hosting. We’ll be tracking the deal in the days ahead…

4. Also on the Agenda: At SNW 2011 (Oct. 10-13, Orlando), Asigra will demonstrate cloud-based mobile device backup for tablets and smartphones. Yes, we’ve been harping on mobile device management (MDM) non-stop in recent weeks. We’re curious to learn how additional backup and disaster recovery companies intend to support mobile devices.

3. Sticking Around: My wife and I celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary in recent days. Most people who meet her come to a similar conclusion: I overachieved, even in marriage.

2. Live From Arizona: Contributing Senior Editor Charlene O’Hanlon will be blogging live this week from N-able Partner Summit. We’re curious to hear if N-able CEO Gavin Garbutt shares more clues about how N-able will leverage a recent private investment from Accel-KKR.

1. Another Week, Another M&A Deal: This is turning into a routine for me. Seems like my standard No. 1 item involves a forthcoming merger or acquisition in the managed services market. Yes, at least one more deal will likely surface in the next five business days.
