N-Able Technologies is taking steps to help MSPs manage customers’ copier equipment. The effort involves a closer working relationship with International Business Products Inc., a buying group that helps members purchase printers, copiers, accessories supplies and services for the U.S. market.
IBPI’s members consist of nearly 300 commercial copier dealers throughout the United States that combine their buying power to negotiate buying contracts with industry suppliers. IBPI members can now purchase N-Able’s N-central 8 RMM platform — either as a cloud service or on-premise solution — and complimentary tool sets, while receiving a 25 percent discount on qualified N-able products and additional group discounts.
N-able President and COO JP Jauvin said in a prepared statement: “Many copier and equipment vendors are incorporating managed IT services into their services portfolio to avoid commoditization and generate new, recurring revenue streams.” N-Able also claims it can help IBPI members reduce IT service costs.
Longer term, we wonder if N-able will help MSPs to connect the dots between copiers and Hardware as a Service (HaaS). Many N-able partners work closely with GreatAmerica Leasing and Navitas Leasing Corp., both of which have helped MSPs with HaaS- and hardware-related financing.

So this is why N-able have been telling us (MSP’s) to watch out for copier and print companies entering the MSP space…they’re making it easier for them!

Generally speaking, I think N-able (and other RMM software providers) wants to make it easier for MSPs to remotely manage copiers while also wrapping such services into a monthly bill. I don’t think N-able and its rivals are helping print companies compete with MSPs, tho.
The other area we’re watching closely: Konica Minolta now owns All Covered, the national US MSP. As a result, the All Covered team essentially becomes a virtual extension of Konica, which means the Konica/All Covered team could wind up competing with some MSPs, at least in my opinion.
