Field Solutions Prepares Managed Print Services Push

It has been a busy week for the managed print services industry, with three major pieces of news to track. The latest involves Field Solutions, which has a network of 17,000 field technicians that can provide on-premise break-fix support. Looking ahead, Field Solutions plans to increase its focus on managed print services.

According to a press release, “At the request of multiple clients, Field Solutions is deploying numerous managed print services preferred-technician databases. These programs, which are in their pilot stages today, suggest a large potential contribution to growth in 2011.”

That’s a pretty generic statement. Who is asking Field Solutions to push into managed print services? And is it truly managed print services — or simply reactive break-fix printer support? We’re poking around for answers.

In the meantime, Field Solutions, which sounds somewhat like OnForce and Work Market, claims to be experiencing strong growth. Field Solutions’ second-half 2010 revenue jumped 72 percent compared to the second half of 2009, though the company did not disclose profit figures.

This is the third noteworthy piece of managed print services news this week. The other two:

Is the managed print services market shifting from a niche to a mainstream opportunity for MSPs? We’re watching.

The Reason FieldSolutions Growth is so High is because they have NCR and Fujitsu under there grip, and Those 2 companies pay them massive amounts of money, then FieldSolutions pays the techs 1/4 of what they are getting from those companies. For Example there was a People counter install project. FieldSolutions was getting paid $400-$500 each door, and farming it to the techs at $105 each door and the techs would have to supply there own materials. They farm out work orders on there for $15-$18 an hour when they are getting paid $75+ an hour. It is not that FieldSolutions is doing so good, it is that they are screwing over the technicians that do the work, and now 75% of the good qualified technicians have left and went into other platforms, FieldSolutions uses people that do not have any experience in the Technology Field, that will gobble up the jobs for $15 an hour….

Oh yeah! These people taking the third world pay think they are making a lot of money taking the low pay. However, when they subtract the cost of supplying parts (many work orders do not reimburst for supplies), fuel and the 10 to 14% service fee, they find out the fast food worker make more. I just don’t accept the low paying jobs.
