Generally speaking, I think ConnectWise and Autotask have the largest installed bases among MSPs running PSA (professional services automation) software. But rival Tigerpaw Software took some noteworthy steps to raise its profile in 2010. The big question: Can Tigerpaw further raise its visibility in 2011? Here’s some perspective.
In recent days, Tigerpaw President James Foxall apparently sent a note to the company’s customer base. Within the note, Foxall mentions several key initiatives at the company. They include:
- The Four Pillars of Success: Which involve organizing a business, optimizing the customer experience, fueling the beast and creating excellence.
- Releasing Tigerpaw 11: Foxall claims it’s the “most intuitive, enjoyable, and feature-rich product” in the company’s 26-year history.
- Hosting the first Tigerpaw User Conference: More than 400 partners attended the Dallas conference; a second annual event is scheduled for 2011.
- Launching the Tigerpaw Community, evolving the Customer Advisory Group, creating and renewing partnerships, and being visible.
Admittedly, Tigerpaw’s rivals took some of those community-building steps above years ago. But Foxall is promising continued advancements in 2011. His letter to customers and partners includes teasers for an enhanced affiliate program; a stronger channel strategy and presence; education for IT/VARs and Telephony companies looking to “cross the aisle”; a new Tigerpaw Exchange Integrator with support for Exchange 2010 and Hosted Exchange; automatic payment processing including credit card and ACH processing; new Service Order Templates and Recurring Service Order Engine; and more training videos.
So what’s missing? A cloud and SaaS strategy. Is that a bad thing? Not necessarily. Tigerpaw has a loyal on-premise following. And plenty of MSPs and VARs prefer on-premise business management tools. But I do wonder if Tigerpaw needs to introduce a hosted version. After all, Autotask is a pure SaaS offering, and ConnectWise offers on-premise and hosted versions.

Take a look at our
Joe, I’m betting that Tigerpaw will make some serious noise/traction in 20111
:):) hmmmmmm….
Hello Joe, and seasons greetings!
2010 was a huge year for Tigerpaw, and we’re just getting warmed up. We’ve begun work on our credit card/ACH processing module that will tightly integrate to Tigerpaw’s recurring contracts, invoicing, and payment features. Our Customer Advisory Group is in full swing and what they have helped us design will provide a value not seen before in this industry; we have some tricks up our sleeves!
Also, while we don’t have a SaaS offering today, rest assured we are doing our due diligence. Perhaps we’ll have a different story to tell this time next year…
cheers,
James Foxall
President, Tigerpaw Software
If 2011 is anything like 2010 for Tigerpaw, I can’t wait to see what is next from James and the team at Tigerpaw.
Happy New Year to all.
Stu
