More Than 600 IT Service Providers Land on Inc. 5000 List

More than 600 IT service providers — many of them VARs and MSPs — have landed on the Inc. 5000 list, which tracks the fastest growing privately held companies in the United States. I certainly don’t know all the names on the list, but some very familiar small and midsize IT service providers grabbed the spotlight. Here’s a sampling…

Admittedly, some of the IT service providers are SaaS, cloud and technology companies that actually compete with solutions providers. To decide for yourself you can see the Inc. 5000′s IT Services industry section here. Familiar names include Five Nines Technology Group (#527), growing 577 percent in the past three years; Cloud Creek Systems (#2094, an emerging Oracle channel partner) and ARRC Technology (at #5001?) , better known in some MSP circles for its sister company — CharTec.

Having more than 600 IT service providers on the Inc. 5000 list provides some healthy channel optimism during some bleak economic times. No doubt, the U.S. economy remains pretty harsh. Some pessimists are talking about a double-dip recession. And giants like Intel and Cisco Systems earlier this month warned that they see some mixed financial indicators ahead.

Should I get depressed? Or simply spend more time celebrating the Inc. 5000′s ability to highlight fast-growing IT service providers?

Kudos to these leaders! IMHO, we are not in an economic recession, but an economic correction, and we have been for years now. As that has been happening we’ve seen the MSP space growing nicely. Makes perfect sense to me, companies focus on their widget business to stay alive, and the MSP will focus on the technology enabling their widget business to grow. I have nothing but great expectations for MSPs, as long as they focus on growing their business the right way (leveraging sales and marketing basics). Anything less is a waste of time.

    best,
