All of your customers carry mobile devices. The key question: Can managed services providers actually generate revenues and profits by seeking to manage iPhones, Google Android, BlackBerry and other customer devices? Before you answer the question consider a recent mobile managed services move by Orange Business Services. Here are the details.
By leveraging a Sybase mobility solution, Orange Business Services will offer customers centralized device management to overcome the complexities of an increasing mobile information workforce, according to a joint press release from Orange and Sybase.
Orange Business Services will also offer:
- Mobile Device Management for device inventory, corporate settings, upgrades and distribution, application management, email control, cost management, monitoring the end-user experience;
- Mobile Security that enforces access codes, establishes “lock/wipe” policies, encrypts devices and data cards, delivers firewall and antivirus applications, and controls mobile access to corporate applications.
It sounds like a massive undertaking. And I wonder if smaller MSPs can hope to compete against massive service providers like Orange in the mobile device management market.
