CharTec Dials Up VoIP for Managed Service Providers

voip_chartecCharTec, the hardware as a service (HaaS) specialist, is promoting a new voice-over-IP solution — called a Voice Management System — for managed services providers. But that’s not all. I’m keeping my eyes on CharTec for a range of reasons.

Let’s start with the basics: CharTec has been developing quite a following among MSPs that want to generate recurring revenue from hardware. Plus, CharTec seems to be assisting MSPs that want to compete with Dell in the hardware market.

From there the story gets quite interesting. CharTec has been busy partnering up with a range of companies that had high profiles at the ConnectWise Partner Summit 2009. The emerging relationships include gloStream and Kutenda. Plus, Kutenda’s sister company — Everon Technology Services — has embraced CharTec’s HaaS model.

  • gloStream specializes in electronic medical records software that helps VARs and MSPs serve the health care vertical.
  • Kutenda assists MSPs with online marketing and search engine optimization.

CharTec’s twitter feed indicates roughly 27 partners plus gloStream and Kutenda attended  a CharTec “academy” meeting this week in Bakersfield, Calif. Details about CharTec’s new Voice Management System are still emerging but there’s no doubt MSPs need to sort out their voice strategies — especially as Google Voice and other disruptive technologies infiltrate the SMB market. I’ll be sure to reach out to CharTec CEO Alex Rogers for more details about the effort.

In the meantime, it’s a safe bet CharTec is working on more strategic relationships. Trust me. And stay tuned.

We (OwnWebNow) are a big partner and supporter of CharTec as well, unfortunately we couldn’t fit this event in the schedule but will be at the others. All of our solutions from
ExchangeDefender to hosting stuff is sold through CharTec team because it just makes sense to deal with businesses as an all-in deal.

For those of you notfamiliar with CharTec, the absolute killer thing to them (people aside) is the configurator tool that prices and actually pitches the solution.. One of my ExchangeDefender developers helped bring that to Web 2.0 :) seriously, give Brian or Frank a call let them show this off to you. It’s pretty much a slam dunk.

As a partner of CharTec, all I can say is that the HAAS model brings MSP’s to the next level. The biggest aspect is making technology spending an operating expense and not a capital expense. Way to go guys.

Vlad, Scott: Please keep us posted as you continue to see trends in the HaaS market. We’ll be doing some follow-up coverage soon in that area.
