As Australia’s managed services market continues to grow, VARs and managed service providers are recruiting key talent to help accelerate their business operations. The latest example comes from Accucom, which apparently has hired several former Synergy employees. Here are the details.
First, a tip of the hat to ARN for the original report. The Australia-based news site says Accucom intends to double its managed services revenue in the next 12 months. As part of that push Accucom apparently has snapped up:
- Roy Pater, Synergy’s former managed services director
- Michael Van Zoggel, a former Synergy manager
- Karl Pickering, a former Synergy business development manager
Accucom, launched in 1998, offers managed desktop, data center, service desk, hosting, data and voice services to customers with 50 to 500 seats, ARN reported.

The Australia managed services market is maturing rapidly. Several PSA (professional services automation) and RMM (remote monitoring and management) software providers have been organizing user groups and conferences across Australia. The battles have even included PR initiatives pitting Kaseya against N-able.
Meanwhile, HTG Peer Groups — which allows VARs and MSPs to share best practices in private user group settings — is setting up its first peer group in Australia, according to HTG’s Twitter feed. Apparently, HTG’s Scott Scroggins is in Australia this week to accelerate the effort.

Hi Joe,
It is Just Like Australian IT Idol Twenty10!
It is so hot down here right now and with the fast moving MSP opportunities around the country it will be interesting to see just how many VAR’s can tune up sustainable managed services businesses for the SMB space in 2010?
With such a huge pool of experience in the USA I wonder if any of the industry talent have thought about a change for warm weather, sun, surf and a shrimp on the BBQ? Let me know…..
Accucom SI are active in the ConnectWise user groups it will be good to see them again in Sydney next week for best practice and dinner.
I also connected with some of the partners that are involved in the first HTG ANZ group next week and they are buzzing so watch that space…
Cheers

MSPmentor is watching Australia closely but please keep sending in your perspectives. It’s been more than a year since I visited Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. So we value reader feedback to keep us honest and accurate. We’ll also check in with HTG for their thoughts on the Australia market.

Hi Joe,
I’m looking forward to next week’s HTG Peer Groups ANZ meeting and ConnectWise User Group meeting in Sydney. Our new HTG members have been asking questions about the evolution of MSP market. We’re having an MSP roundtable in addition to our Quarterly Board Reviews and other best practice sharing.
I landed in Sydney about 4 hours ago and experienced summer in full force. After leaving feet of snow and sub-zero temperatures behind, I can see that Tim Brewer’s comment about IT talent migrating downunder is more than joking around.
I look forward to listening and learning more about the market here from HTG members, and to seeing Tim and the ConnectWise team in Sydney soon.
