Steveq: Thanks for the tip but we also strive for disclosure on MSPmentor. Are you an employee of SOS Online Backup? Investor? Partner? Let us know. Thanks.

Update: Just got off the phone with Eric Webster at intronis who was excited to share with me their plans for a new partner portal which will drastically ease management of backups for MSPs. they're talking about releasing it in January, so I'm really looking forward to it. Props to Intronis for being proactive on this.

Randy@1: Although I don't necessarily agree with your view that Intronis is designed for resellers, I do appreciate the fact that you took the time to weigh in. Healthy debate is welcome on MSPmentor.

Rich@2: Thanks for pointing out the central web management interface. We'll keep an eye out for it.

Joe,

In the interest of full disclosure, Intronis is one of the vendor partners VirtualAdministrator.com works with as an MSP on-ramp. We allow people to digest bite-sized portions of Intronis backup while building their business to the point where they can commit to a longer term and higher volume, just like we've done with other products like Kaseya, SPAMSoap and SonicWALL GMS.

Our description of Intronis would be very different than Randy's. They've consulted with us several times on product suggestions and ways they could better serve the MSP market, given that we play in that arena. One of the first suggestions we made was billing integration, and we were somewhat instrumental in the testing and design process of the Connectwise integration.

So while their product may have started out as a more generic brandable online backup for VARs (well before MSP was even a buzzword), I can with complete conviction tell you that Intronis' focus is on managed services and those that provide it.

A look at their upcoming central web management interface should illustrate that clearly.

I've been using Intronis for a couple months now. Its important to note that while they are selling their offering targeted at Managed Services Providers, their software is still designed for Resellers, an important distinction. I'm looking forward to whoever brings to market the first real online backup solution design ed for MSPs.
