Intronis, which specializes in online backup and recovery, is starting to integrate its SaaS (software as a service) platform with RMM (remote monitoring and management) and PSA (professional services automation) software. Intronis’s latest move, announced today, involves a relationship with Level Platforms.

According to a press release that’s expected to surface today:

“The Level Platforms and Intronis integration allows for the inclusion of Intronis into the Level Platforms dashboard in Managed Workplace [allowing MSPs] to monitor backup statuses, notifications, and other events that take place during the backup and recovery process. “

I expect Intronis to announce similar integration work in the PSA market soon, though I’m double-checking to see if the effort has been formally disclosed yet. Also of note: Intronis has quietly shifted to a pure channel sales model, funneling all inbound leads out to its channel partners.

The Bigger Picture

For most VARs, managed storage and managed security represent two quick steps into the managed services market. On storage front, in particular, dozens of options have emerged.

On the one hand, some storage software companies are partnering up to push deeper into the MSP space. A few examples:

• Intronis and Level Platforms
• VaultLogix and Ingram Micro Seismic
• Vembu and Amazon Web Services

But on the other hand, some MSP platform providers — such as Kaseya and Zenith Infotech — have been pushing directly into managed storage. Much of Zenith Infotech’s recent growth can be traced to the company’s Backup and Disaster Recovery (BDR) solution. And Kaseya is planning to launch a SaaS-centric backup and recovery service as part of the Kaseya 6 platform launch, according to CEO Gerald Blackie.

In the meantime, watch for Intronis and Level Platforms to announce their integration work sometime today.
