I'm glad to see that folks are actively discussing the unique technical requirements of MSPs. This can get especially complicated when managing small networks with duplicate/overlapping address space and without dedicated, point-to-point network or VPN connections. Regarding SolarWinds, we actually do a tremendous amount of work in this space. As a matter of fact, I've personally worked with several of these companies and they're very happy with our products. If you haven't checked out Orion lately, you can download a free copy at http://www.solarwinds.com to evaluate.

Solarwinds: Perhaps I did stretch the point by including Solarwinds. But on the other hand, software executives in the MSP space see a clear connection between Solarwinds and the overall automation/MSP market.

With all do respect, Joe, there is nothing MSP about SolarWinds. They provide end user products, and don't even offer an MSP solution. Sure some VARs try to use their product as a remote monitoring solution, but it's not built for remote monitoring, never was, and never will be. 99% of SolarWinds revenue comes from selling Orion and their Toolset to mid market and enterprise IT departments. VARs in the space you cover, for the most part, manage customers with less than 150 end users. There is nothing MSP about SolarWinds, they don't even mention VARs and MSPs on their website - take a look. They're not in this game.
