I used to participate in local American Marketing Association meetings for the same reason -- to broaden my perspective. Some of the most imaginative ideas came from people outside of our industry, to your point. Perhaps the one thing that you and I will have in common with most other bloggers -- we all love to tell stories; since it's one of the most engaging ways to communicate and connect with other people.
