An example: Many small retailers still operate their own on-premise video surveillance systems. But the systems are nothing more than VCRs hooked to in-store cameras. But savvy small retailers are embracing managed video surveillance, much in the way that home owners leverage managed home security systems. Ultimately, it's up to MSPs to get in front of small business owners with clear, concise marketing messages. Niche services targeted at mid-tier specialty retailers would seem to be the most likely possibilities. Larger retailers are likely to focus on projects to maintain and/or upgrade existing platforms and capabilities, and smaller firms are likely to refrain from spending for quite a bit longer.
