managed-services-acquisition-carillion-capitaIn the latest managed services industry M&A, Capita Group PLC is buying Carillion IT Services Ltd. (CITS), which specializes in outsourcing, managed services and Cisco-centric solutions.

This is the sixth merger or acquisition to land on our MSPmentor M&A Tracker so far in 2009. Financial terms of the Capita Group-CITS deal were not disclosed.

Here are some quick stats about both companies.

Acquired: CITS has roughly 440 employees across the United Kingdom and Scotland and expects to generate an operating profit for the year ending 31 December 2009 of £3.7m on a turnover of £66m, according to Channel Register.

The buyer: Capita Group positions itself as the UK’s leading outsourcing company. Among the company’s focus areas, Capita Group:

  • Provides IT services to more than 2,400 schools in the UK.
  • Offers a service desk to more than 50 clients and deals with more than 220,000 incoming emails and calls per year.
  • Manages more than 10,000 desktops for customers.

We’ll follow up with Capita Group in a few months to see how the acquisition plays out.

    Hi Joe

This is a major deal here in the UK.

It is amazing that an organistion as large as Capita cannot use its muscle in this arena but needs to add by acquistion

I have taken this to mean that we should carry on our pursuit of strong customer relationships and see value beyond the Year 1 contract focus

MSP Mentor is still in great form
