MaxSP: Out of Business?

Time for me to eat a little more crow and also follow-up on an old story. Back in November 2008 I praised MaxSP for having a clear mission statement and a clear channel model for partners that wanted to profit from business continuity. Perhaps that praise was too strong. Fast forward to the present, and MaxSP allegedly has gone out of business.

Anybody have additional details? I first heard about MaxSP allegedly closing its doors through a comment posted May 7 on MSPmentor. The company’s Website (formerly at www.MaxSP.com) appears to be offline. And I haven’t been able to track down sources who can tell me what has become of the company.

Memo to MaxSP and sources close to the company: Let us know what has become of the company — as well as the customer data you managed. I’m all ears.

MaxSP officially or not so officially closed it’s doors on Jan 15, turning us into the streets for the last time.

The CFO hoped to sell the customer info accumulated over the span of the business to someone else. John Goodrich, the CEO, is sniffing around the valley looking for some money to carry it on, though with the customer base left without a real clue as to what happened, I think the name is tarnished, to say the least.

I’m still answering some calls and questions about what we did and how we did it, but the moment of opportunity has passed and others such as Zenith Data Systems have capitalized on our visio, I believe.

Myself and Ed De Sousa have a great deal of information collected in our heads about the model, the customer base and the methods and processes, but no real idea about what to do with it.

Ed needs a new job, and I’m working with an MSP in northern Los Angeles trying to use off the shelf components to recreate a model.
