One of the most vocal personalities at SecureMyCompany — a Master MSP that hosts Kaseya software — apparently is leaving the company to join MSP University.
According to the SBSC & MSP Buzz blog, Stuart Selbst is leaving SecureMyCompany…
“as he makes the move to work for Managed Services Provider University as the Partner Support Director where he will be working with MSP partners that need training, coaching and goal setting.”
Selbst confirmed the move in his personal blog on February 12, and assured readers that “the team at SecureMyCompany will move forward and continue to be very successfully in their offerings.”
Selbst — a former VAR himself — is a well-known name in MSP circles, and has been a frequent guest speaker at a number of channel conferences.
I’ve asked MSP University CIO Erick Simpson for a comment and will let you know what he says.

As the only two U.S. hosted Kaseya providers currently officially sanctioned by our licensing agreements with Kaseya, Virtual Administrator and SecureMyCompany have certainly seen a lot of each other in VAR and MSP circles. Stuart Selbst has been a great asset to SecureMyCompany and to the hosted MSP world in general and has always gotten a thrill out of hearing success stories from his VARs. This move gives him an opportunity to have a more direct impact on the community in general.
Even though SMC is a competitor of Virtual Administrator, our relationship has always been cordial and we’ve together tried to advance the cause of the small VAR that still needs big VAR capability. Stuart has been a big part of keeping that effort friendly and fun. We congratulate both Stuart and Erick and look forward to continuing to strengthen our already solid partnership with MSPU.
Rich: Your mindset proves — once again — that it’s possible to cooperate and compete in a healthy way to grow the managed services market, and educate end-customers.
MSPU’s Erick Simpson replied to my email inquiry and offered these perspectives:
“Yes, Stuart’s first day with MSP University as Director of Partner Support is today. In this capacity he will be working directly with our Corporate MSP University Members to increase their business operations, sales & marketing and technical service delivery efficiencies and profitability through our best-practices based educational and training methodologies and resources for IT practice improvement. We are pleased to have Stuart on board and look forward to his helping us scale the number of Members we can support and make a real difference for in their businesses.”
Thanks for the update Erick.
Best,
