One small clarification: 20% of MSPs "claim" they are shifting to the Master MSP model. I think a lot of MSPs are giving the model a look. Whether they've introduced such services -- or profit from such services -- is another story.

While Do IT Smarter and Ingram Micro Seismic have been Master MSPs for quite some time, most other companies are newbies to this effort.

It doesn't surprise me to hear that 20% of MSPs are shifting to a master MSP model; I expect that number will continue to grow pretty rapidly as the industry starts to shake out a bit.

Master MSP is a pretty loosely-defined word at this point, so it will be interesting to see what models help these providers find success in the marketplace.
