Hello from Melbourne, Australia. We’re touring the country — making additional stops in Sydney and Brisbane — while exploring Australia’s growing managed services market throughout this week.
To be sure, managed services is in its infancy here. I suspect fewer than 500 VARs offer proactive remote managed services in Australia. But that’s changing fast.
Autotask, Kaseya, Level Platforms and N-able, just to name a few, have made significant moves into the Australian market.
And I’ll be meeting with scores of Australia VARs this week during the Managed Services International Seminar Series, hosted by Intel and Kaseya.
Full disclosure: Kaseya and Intel covered my travel costs and speaker fee for this event series. My presentation for the seminar describes key trends in the U.S. managed services market, and their potential long-term implications for Australia’s VARs.
Stay tuned for a recap of each event.

Jeff: It was a pleasure to meet you in Melbourne. Congrats on embracing the MSP model. And it’s great to see you blogging. Keep sharing content with the world and let us know how your transition to managed services goes.
I think I underestimated the Australian market. I thought many VARs would be reluctant or skeptical about the model. But it sounds like the market is nearing its tipping point here.
Hi Joe,
Just attended the seminar in Sydney and thought it was very worthwhile. I saw a question about comparing different MSP platforms,do you have any articles on that?
Thanks,
Alex
PS. Are the presentations from the seminar avaiable for download?
Thanks
Alex: Thanks for your time at the Sydney event. MSPmentor does not do product reviews or head-to-head product comparisons. This article from CRN offers a platform review to get you started. I’m not endorsing the findings, though. Please draw your own conclusions.
Also, find out FIRST what your customers need. Managed storage? Managed security? Something else? Then, align the platform to fit your business needs — and your customers’ needs.
Please stay in touch and let us know about your transition to managed services.

PS: I can send you my presentation as a PDF. And I’ll see if I can round up the other presentations for you. Please give me a day, though. I’m heading to Brisbane right now for the next leg of this event series.
Best
