After five months of work, this week we’re unveiling the MSPmentor 250 — a list of the top executives, entrepreneurs and experts from across the global managed services ecosystem. The list also has a healthy helping of Software as a Service (SaaS) experts. Take a look.
The MSPmentor 250 list and accompanying report will debut incrementally this week — with 50 new names arriving each day, and the complete MSPmentor 250 report (in PDF format) surfacing on Friday, August 1. I apologize for unveiling the list incrementally, but our heavier-than-usual travel schedule forced us to tackle this online project in chapters.
We hope you consider the MSPmentor 250 a global Rolodex of sorts. It’s designed to help you find MSP and SaaS experts with a range of competencies (business, technology, sales, marketing, PR, etc.). The list also features experts representing emerging companies and massive Global 2000 organizations.
Please take a few minutes to visit our MSPmentor 250 Center, where you can read how we put together the report. Once you have a feel for how and why we pursued this project, feel free to dive into the list.
Of course, we welcome your feedback and constructive criticism. No doubt you know a few experts who didn’t land on the list. Who are they? And what makes them so smart? Bring them to our attention and we’ll keep them in mind for next year’s survey and resulting MSPmentor 250.

Joe, I’m looking forward to seeing the entire list. A few questions:
1. Is it really global or just US?
2. Will the PDF report include email addresses for everyone on the list?
3. Are you planning to do an MSP Mentor 100 survey this year? How do I participate?
Thank you.
Hi Richard,
Thanks for reaching out to me. Here are some answers to your questions.
1. Yes, the list is truly global, with executives, entrepreneurs and experts from across North America, Europe and Australia. We expect our research — like our audience — to become increasingly global in the months ahead.
2. The PDF report will not include personal email addresses. We wanted to protect experts from Spam. But we do include general addresses (info@acme.com) to help you ultimately connect with the key executives you’d like to reach.
3. Yes, we plan to do an MSPmentor 100 survey this year. It launches in September and the resulting report will be published in early 2009. Check http://www.mspmentor.net/top-100-msps for details.
Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Hi Richard
I can confirm its Global because I am based in the UK and have “squeezed” onto the list !!!!
The reality is that the MSP world is far more advanced in the US than the ROW. All the main vendors are US - but we for sure have seen an increasing focus on this side of the pond.
The great theory about a remote managed service means that wherever you are in the world you can do the same job that a local provider can do.
BUT still our MSP market (we are backup guys by the way) is 96% UK.
The reason ? Joe did a great 4 part intro to the MSP world and the part that resonated for us most was the fact that people still sell to people even though the service and products may not be physical. Service = personal contact, and the more local and face-to-face the contact the better in our opinion.
We would love to dominate areas like East and West Coast US, Australia and most excitingly the Sub Continent but for now we are making money in our homelands and life is good.
I am living proof that MSPmentor does not have any border control !!
Cheers,

Hi Simon,
Good to have voices from the UK represented here. You are correct in that MSPmentor knows no borders. We’ve reached readers in more than 100 countries since January.
Simon’s comment about US MSPs being “far more advanced in the US than the ROW” struck me as curious. I’d love to hear why Simon believes this to be case; any examples of what makes a US MSP “more advanced” verses ROW not? Nimsoft has a great number of MSP partners that are outside of the US (Nimsoft MSP partners span 21 countries). I am so impressed with our MSP partners who operate outside of the US (as well as those who operate inside the US); I’ve found their business focus, strategies, execution, and commitment to quality service delivery and customer satisfaction to be comparable to or even exceeding MSP operations that I’ve observed in the States.
Ken: I think Simon’s point is that the MSP market is more established in the US — rather than suggesting that individual MSPs are more advanced in one region compared to another. But on the other hand, I don’t want to put words into Simon’s mouth.
Simon? Thoughts?

Phew - thanks Joe !!
I did say the “MSP world” not MSP’s. We bump into a lot of organisations as partners and competitors that are shining examples of MSP best practice here in the UK and beyond into Contenental Europe.
Any US based vendor who takes a wise ROW view has the chance to dominate rapidly growing markets.
Hope this clarifies
Simon
PS I am glad to see my dear friends David and Eran Farajun from Asigra Inc make the Top 250. For those who don’t know much about Asigra please take a look. Asigra will continue to win the Mid Market and Enterprise Managed Backup space in the coming years.
Apologies Simon! I was too quick to read your comment and got hung up on ‘advanced’. Thanks for the clarification Joe/Simon!
