Hello Steve,

Correct me if I am wrong, but SLP (1 or 2) ties the license key in the O/S to a license key string in the BIOS, so if the O/S boots up on a different motherboard, the admin will be required to activate Windows before the O/S will fully load. This is a limitation with Microsoft licensing that we can’t overcome (and shouldn’t). This is commonly referred to as an “OEM license” for the sake of discussion.

BMRs will not work on servers licensed this way, and virtualizations may not. Backups (and file restores) will work as expected. We don't have any plans to work around this.

I am impressed with the BDR. Unfortunately, all of my present client but 1 have HP or Dell servers with SLP BIOS lock installed with the OEM SBS 2003. Zenith Infotech states that the BDR virtualization is not guaranteed to work with BIOS lock. This eliminates many, if not most SMB's with existing servers, at least in my experience. Are there any plans in the future to rectify this issue? I would like to use it as a USP in my marketing, but cannot do this due to the BIOS lock issue.
