James: You've given new life to an old -- but valuable -- post on MSPmentor. Thanks for re-starting the conversation here. Are you a managed service provider, or are you a customer that depends on an MSP?

There is always smaller companies like us who are low cost "affordable" every device counts platforms which is driven by customer demands, what the customer wants to see.

The real benefit is if they are local.

Mike: Thanks for extending the conversation. Culture truly is everything. A prime example: MSPmentor works closely with a key web development team, and one key reason we did so was culture: We enjoy working with them, the creative process is rewarding, and we continually push each other with new ideas. Win-win. All because of culture, as you pointed out.

Great post, Joe. I think you missed an important factor that everyone needs to consider though:

Can you work with them? Does the culture of your company and the culture of their company mix?

This has always been the final determining factor for us when running Everon. We've worked with two platforms in our time in business, and both are great to do business with.

We've also eliminated the chance of working with several of them because our cultures just did not mesh.

When you get into bed with one of these companies, these become an extension of your company, and they must fit well or you'll be miserable!
