WiMAX Specialist Jumps Into Managed Storage

Broadband providers continue to push into the managed services sector. The latest example: NextPhase Wireless, which intends to roll out WiMAX networks across the 48 contiguous US states, is now launching online backup services for businesses of all sizes.

NextPhase’s move is the latest reminder that small managed service providers (MSPs) and solutions providers could wind up competing with national service providers that control big pipes into businesses and residential neighborhoods.

However, NextPhase will attempt to balance its initiatives with a managed service package for VARs. Here’s a look at the company’s four managed storage offerings:

  • SpeedVault SOHO: online remotebackup solutions for Small Office / Home Office environments with 1 to 10 employees.
  • SpeedVault SMB: for businesses with up to 250 employees potentially spread over multiple locations.
  • SpeedVault Enterprise: as its name implies, for big enterprises.
  • SpeedVault VAR: a branded “white label” online remote backup solution, available to NextPhase channel partners.
